The Purple Almond Hall of Fame – Artpsycho

My other blog, The Purple Almond Wellness Kitchen, has been nominated for an AWESOME BLOGGER AWARD! This is great! Thank you so much to my nominator Jyotsna at Artpsycho!

Look for my AWESOME BLOGGER award reply on The Purple Almond Wellness Kitchen later today.

Right now, as is my custom, I am entering Jyotsna, as well as her fellow bloggers, Anriel, and Devashree, along with their website, into my award hall of fame, The Purple Almond Hall of Fame. The hall of fame was established as a way of honoring those bloggers who wish to bless The Purple Almond with a blogger award. If this blog is nominated for an award, the nominating blog will have their blog permanently placed on my Hall of Fame page, along with a link to that blog, and an article dedicated to that blog.

The blog Artpsycho was established jointly by Anriel, Devashree and Jyotsna, who came together with a common goal: inspire creativity and ideas.

A quote from her about page says:

We wish to share our ideas and inspire creativity in different forms of art. We are storytellers in our own sense and we love to create content for the fiction world in form of book reviews and non-fiction realistic pieces on life, travel, food and more and wish to showcase the same, that we enjoy doing in our daily lives.

Check out some of their articles

  • Travel articles – They have a series of journal blog entries, highlighting different travels to art festivals, tours and the like.
  • Book reviews – There are several book reviews. You can find everything from Moby Dick and The Little Match Girl, to The Paper Dress and The Last Leaf
  • Arts and Crafts – This is probably my favorite part of their site, as I love to make crafts but rarely take the time. Here are links to a few of their arts and craft projects

Closing thoughts

I am so blessed. Deciding to start a blog several years ago was one of the best decisions I’ve ever made. It introduced me to a whole new world, quite literally! Through blogging, you “meet” people from all over the world, who quickly become your friends and part of your blogging family.

Thank you to Jyotsna for nominating The Purple Almond Wellness Kitchen for the AWESOME BLOGGER! My new little recipe blog continues to grow. It’s slow to grow, but steady to get new followers. I forgot how much fun it was as a beginning blogger. The challenges and excitement that come from each new award and goal met is so much fun.

The Purple Almond Hall of Fame – Finding French Charming

An announcement before I get into the main post…

I’d like to tell you that I’m taking a blogging vacation for the next 10 days. I am currently on a break from school and would like to take the next 10 days to give my brain a break. After I complete a class, my brain has been worked quite hard and feels a bit like jello. 😊 🤣 I have no major plans, other than to relax and spend time with family. This is a necessary form of stress relief for me.

Therefore, there will be no main posts from Thursday, September 20 through Sunday, September 30, 2018.  There will be morning recipes and evening quotes through Friday, September 21, 2018, since they are completed and already scheduled. However, there will be no posts at all next week. I will be back with all posts on Monday October 1, 2018. My next Fit by 50 post will be on Thursday, October 4, and will combine weeks 42 through 44.

Now, onto the main post…

I was recently nominated for a Sunshine Blogger Award, by KKatch22 at the blog Finding French Charming. Thank you so much, KKatch22, for this wonderful award. I feel truly blessed to be honored by fellow bloggers, such as you.

When it comes to blogger awards, I do things a bit different. Instead of focusing on the award, I focus on the person and blog who nominated me. I like to acknowledge, and bring attention to the kind people who nominate me for awards.

The Purple Almond Hall of Fame was established as a way of honoring those bloggers who wish to bless The Purple Almond with a blogger award. When this blog is nominated for an award, the nominating blog will have their blog permanently placed on the hall of fame page, along with a link to that blog.

All about Finding French Charming

With dreams of moving to the city, living in a high rise, driving a convertible and becoming a doctor all fulfilled, there was one dream left for KKatch22, to find love. Many people would turn bitter about love, after two marriages ended in divorce, but she never gave up.

After what KKatch22 calls “bad boyfriends, disastrous dates”, she finally turned to online dating, where she learned a lot about herself. Soon, one night, she met “the one” and her new life of “awesome adventure” began.  Here is a quote from her “about” page:

I created Finding French Charming at the end of January, 2018.  I wanted to write about my experiences, my thought processes, my failed attempts at love and happiness, and my eventual success so that other people going through the same thing might know they are not alone.  It took me over 40 years to find “Mr. Right” or Prince “French” Charming, so I know it’s possible!  Good things do come to those who wait, but you have to make sure you put yourself out there.”

Here are some articles from this wonderful website:

Closing thoughts…

I’d like to close out this post simply by saying I highly recommend you head over to, and read about her dating adventures. She has a wonderful and engaging writing style that draws you into her story. You want to keep reading to find out what happens next.

THANK YOU, KKatch22, FOR THE NOMINATION! I absolutely love your blog. It’s been so much fun reading about your adventures with French Charming. You are an extremely talented writer.  I agree with those that say you should write a book. I, for one, would absolutely buy it. I wish only the best for both of you.

Until next time… Namaste my friends

The Purple Almond Hall of Fame: Zen Body Cafe (5)

The next inductee into The Purple Almond Hall of Fame is Christi from The Zen Body Cafe: Living Healthy Naturally. In October, 2017, Christie nominated me for The Sunshine Blogger Award. THANK YOU SO MUCH for the nomination. I apologize for the long delay in replying to your nomination.

Christie is the Owner of Zen Body Cafe, a business that sells handmade, natural bath, body and home products…

“…without harsh chemicals, dyes, parabens, preservatives etc. Good products for a healthy body & home. My blog is to reach out and help educate and share the information I have acquired through study and research. My goal is to make and offer healthier products at an affordable price! Together, we can try to live a healthier life naturally!”

Christie, from Kansas City, Missouri, says she has been trying to improve the quality of her life and that of her family. Her son is allergic to many things, so she stared researching, reading labels, and looking for healthy foods, devoid of GMO’s and toxins. It seems he was allergic to just about anything to clean his skin.

So, she made her own, by mixing bits of things together. She now has a line of bath and body products without any harsh chemicals. The best part of the whole journey is that her son’s skin has improved.

Here are a few of her articles:

Let’s talk Calendula

Benefits of hemp

If you are interested in purchasing some of her products, you can find them on her ETSY page HERE:

As you might imagine, given the nature of my blog, I too am an advocate of natural product. However, I am only now venturing into the wide world of essential oils, and the blending and mixing with carrier oils to make skin care products.

Thank you, once again, Christie for your kind nomination. I am always humbled by the acknowledgement of my fellow bloggers. I have placed a permanent link to your page my Hall of Fame page, which you can find HERE. God bless and namaste my friend.

The Purple Almond Hall of Fame ~ That Feeling Inside (5).png

Welcome to the inaugural edition of The Purple Almond Hall of Fame posts. Because I am an award free blog, I established this series as a way of honoring the wonderful and talented bloggers who nominate me for awards. Instead of answering each individual award per the usual route, I will be logging each individual onto my Hall of Fame page and writing an article about each. This series will not be posted on a set schedule. Anytime I am nominated, I will post the Hall of Fame article(s) once a month on Thankful Thursday. Today, I have 3 entries, so I best get started. You can see the Hall of Fame page and receive more information on this series, by following this link.

Screen Shot 2018-01-18 at 10.46.02 AM.png

The first inductee into The Purple Almond hall of fame is Grace from That Feeling Inside. Grace nominated me for a Liebster Award way back in July, 2017! I would first like to apologize to Grace for taking so long to reply to her wonderful nomination.

Grace is a 21 year old blogger from the U.K. She says she really “likes chatting and having a laugh. Generally most of the day you can probably find me just joking around with someone or talking to them about the most random subjects.” She claims to be “a bit of a mess,” 90% of the time. However, anyone who works full time, as well as maintains a blog, is a pretty with it person.

Her articles includes topics such as:

Thank you so much Grace for nominating me for the Liebster award.  I am so honored you chose me as a recipient. You have a beautiful blog, with a wonderful writing style. You can find a link to your name in my little Hall of Fame HERE, where it will remain, indefinitely. I wish you continued success. God bless and Namaste my friend.

Announcing- The Purple Almond Awards Hall of Fame

As of January 24, 2017, I went award free. However, on occasion, I continue to receive award nominations from brilliant bloggers. And, on occasion, I have accepted award nominations, despite my award free status. This is mainly because I wish to honor those bloggers that go through the trouble of reaching out and nominating me.

So, after visiting other bloggers who are award free, mainly the blog Soul Gifts, I stole some ideas and decided to honor those nominations in a different way. Thus, I am starting…

The Purple Almond Hall of Fame

I established this page as a way of honoring those bloggers who wish to bless The Purple Almond with a blogger award. If I am nominated for an award, the nominating blog will have their blog site permanently placed on The Purple Almond Hall of Fame Page, along with a link to that blog. The Purple Almond will also write an entire post dedicated to the nominating blog, which will highlight the author(s), and articles of that blog. This article will be posted as a part of my normal Thankful Thursday post.

So, stay tuned on January 18, 2018, Thankful Thursday, as I launch my Hall of Fame, with the first two entrants.

Have a great day everyone!

God  bless! Namaste!

Motivational Monday: A Beautiful Perspective on Following your Heart.

I’ve never trusted my own views or perspectives on anything, until recently. I have always had longings, instincts, feelings to perform tasks, act on ideas, or follow certain life paths. But I always let two things stop me fear and lack of self-esteem. The two worked hand in hand to thwart my efforts toward self-improvement, or simply acting on an idea.

I am notorious for procrastinating. A friend of mine once said that procrastination is simply fear getting in the way of our dreams. That same friend taught me to conquer my fear and live fearlessly, without regret, to follow my heart. Action conquers fear and the only way to live your dreams is to push past the fear. The times in my life, when I lived fearlessly, when I followed my heart, always ended up being the some of the best decisions of my life.

My blog, The Purple Almond, is one of those decisions.  I followed my heart when I started this blog, which took a huge leap of faith. And I’m so glad I did. I’ve learned so many things starting this blog and beginning to live fearlessly, but I’m going to share three of them with you today.

  1. First, you must be self-confident and recognize your unique and beautiful qualities;
  2. It’s important to view  everything from different perspectives;
  3. AND, ALWAYS, ALWAYS, ALWAYS…follow your heart.

When I started receiving awards shortly after beginning my blog, I was truly shocked. When I post articles, I am always following my heart and posting what I love. I have never felt that what I was doing was anything special. After all, I was just being myself.  I am still amazed and humbled by my brilliantly talented fellow bloggers when they nominate me for awards. That hasn’t changed and is the case with my three newest awards. For each of the 3 awards below, I’ve included an inspirational video, which highlights one of the three things I’ve learned since starting my blog.

Since this is going to be a long post, I’ll get to it.

Before that I’d like to reach out

to the bloggers who nominated me and say:

One Lovely Blog Award

By: Sincerely Sarah

“There is only one kind of beautiful,

and that is you!”

I’d like to thank Keith McArthur at My Instruction Manual., who nominated me for this award. I first met Keith when he asked me to be a founding member of the Facebook group Self-Improvement Bloggers Alliance (SIBA). Keith’s wonderful blog includes inspiring posts, quotes and books. Here is his blog description in his own words:

“In April of 2017 I got a second chance at life when my sister gave me a kidney. I’m determined not to waste this precious gift. My Instruction Manual is my exploration of how to be happy, healthy, connected, organized, inspired and fun.”

Thank you Keith! I am so grateful to have received this award from you! Thank you for thinking of me.

The rules of the One Lovely Blog Award are simple:

  • Thank the person who nominated you
  • Share 7 facts about yourself
  • Nominate 15 bloggers and inform them of the nomination
    • (at the bottom of the page)

7 Facts About Me

  1. My grandmother is 100 years old.
  2. I have one sister and no brothers.
  3. I have a double major in Elementary and Special Education.
  4. I have been married for 25 years.
  5. I hate “slimy” food.

Blogger Recognition Award

By: Apple

(This one is REALLY cool!)

“Here’s to those who always

see things differently.”

A HUGE THANK YOU to Sophie at Food Zesty, who nominated for this next award. Sophie’s blog contains amazing recipes, such as Pasta Pie (Makaronopita). Here is a bit about Sophie in her own words:

“Welcome to a small corner of my Greek Heritage. Growing up in New York from Greek parents, was a challenge of its own…but the traditional food, tastes and aromas that my mother cooked always travelled me back to Greece.”

Thank you so very much Sophie! I am so very grateful for this nomination. You are amazing!

Here are the rules for accepting this award

  • Thank the blogger who nominated you and provide a link to their blog.
  • Write a post to show your award.
  • Give a brief story of how your blog started.
  • Give two pieces of advice to new bloggers.
  • Select 10-15 other bloggers you want to give this award to.
    • (Bottom of the page)

This is how I started my blog:

I was the blog writer at a credit union a few years ago. When I quit the credit union to go back to school, I missed blogging. I decided to start my own blog, passing on the information I learn along the way.

New Bloggers Advice:

  1. Socialize with other bloggers – When I say this, I mean follow others, like other people’s blogs, reblog other posts, and comment on articles. Basically, it’s the “Golden rule” of blogging. Treat others how you wish to be treated. We all like follows, comments, likes and reblogs. So, pass on the love.
  2.  I highly recommend a schedule – This will help you be consistent and organized. You’ll be more likely to get followers if they know what to expect and when.
  3. WRITE WHAT YOU LOVE AND FOLLOW YOUR HEART! (I know there was supposed to be 2, but I couldn’t decide, so included 3!)

Unique Blogger Award

Follow your Heart

By: The Journey of Purpose

“You’re time is limited.

So, don’t waste it living

someone else’s life.

Don’t be trapped by dogma.”

I’d like to pass on a huge, sincere and heart felt THANK YOU to Nisha at InspiresN. Nisha’s blog posts delightful recipes, inspiring quotes and beautiful photography. Here’s a bit from Nisha:

“InspiresN is dedicated to some of the things that I am passionate about and inspires me . Here I shall feature my tried and successful recipes , memorable and favorite clicks, lessons learned in photography with tips and tricks .( I am a beginner in photography and hope to better as I click and explore) and quotes.”

Nisha…THANK YOU!!! THANK YOU!!! I am honored you thought of me for this wonderful award. It’s a first for me. Thank you again!

  1. Share the link with the blogger who has shown love to you by nominating you.
  2. Answer the questions.
  3. In the spirit of sharing love with our blogging family, nominate 15 people and notify them. (Bottom of the page!)
  4. Ask them three questions.

 Questions from Nisha:

  • Q1. How do you get the motivation for new posts in your blog?
    • My nutrition posts come mainly from what I’m learning in school. I also do a lot of reading and documentary watching, which gives me many of my ideas as well. The news is always full of great nutrition tid bits.
    • As far as my motivation posts, I simply follow my heart. I just start searching and something usually “pops up” or jumps out at me.
  • Q2. What is your favorite travel destination ?
    • When I lived overseas, we saw a lot of beautiful countries, but my 2 favorites are Greece and Scotland
    • I have a dream of one day visiting Antarctica
  • Q3. What was the most proudest moment of your life ?

My questions for my nominees:

  1. If you could sit on a bench for an hour and talk with ANYONE (Past/present/dead/alive) … who would it be and why?
  2. If money were no object, what would you do with your life/as a career?
  3. If you could travel to Mars to live and help start up a new colony, would you go, even knowing you’d never return to Earth? Why or why not?

My nominees are:

Okay everyone! There you have it! I hope you enjoyed everything.  Please give all of the phenomenal bloggers above a visit and a follow! Have a wonderful day everyone!

(BTW-Since it’s a holiday today, this is the only post for today!)

Motivation Monday: Live Boundless

Hello my beautiful, wonderful, brilliant people! I am back from my week long hiatus, but only for a few days, Monday through Wednesday of this week, then I’m off again until Monday, July 10, 2017.

So, what do my son and I have in common with MIT professors, Nobel Prize winning scientists, teenage genius inventors, and 4500 straight A students from across the nation? We were all at the University of Massachusetts, Lowell this past week, for the Congress of Future Science and Technology Leaders. My son was invited to attend, after being nominated by one of his high school teachers and he was allowed to bring one family member. (That would be me! 🙂 ) Yes, over the past few days, my son and I had the privilege to listen to inspiring talks from some of the most brilliant minds on the planet. It was absolutely incredible and one of the most memorable experiences of my life. (LOL, my son had a blast too.) AND, I want to share what I learned with all of you, but not just yet…. 😉 Look for that blog next Monday, July 10, for Motivation Monday.

Today, I have something very special and important to do,  thank a friend and fellow blogger.

This post is dedicated to

The Original Phoenix, Jasminder

from Boundless Agenda

You may have seen a new seal on the sidebar to the left. It is a seal given to all nominees for the Annual Blogger Bash Awards (ABBA). Jasminder nominated me for an ABBA in the category of most informational blog. This article is my way of saying thank you to her for this incredible honor. This thank you article is a long time in coming. I’d like to apologize to Jasminder for taking so long to write it.

NominatedScreen Shot 2017-06-19 at 2.40.27 PM

To be honest, having just started my blog in November, 2016, I was clueless as to what the Blogger Bash Awards were, when Jasminder contacted me. If you’re like me, and not sure of what they are, you can find out more from their FAQ page.

The Blogger Bash is a social event for bloggers. It was organized by four bloggers, Sacha BlackGeoff Le Pard,  Ali Isaac, and Hugh Roberts. The purpose is to get the blogging world together, giving everyone the opportunity to meet in person, with the ABBA’s given out, at the event, as well . This year’s bash took place in London on June 10, 2017.

I can’t tell you how grateful I am for this nomination. It means the world to me. Thank you so much Jasminder. I am so honored that you would think enough of me to nominate me. You are beautiful, amazing, brilliant and wonderful. I have learned so much from you, about blogging, but also about how to be fearless and live life to it’s fullest.

So, let’s move onto the core of what Jasminder’s blog, Boundless Agenda, is about. Her theme is LIVE BOUNDLESS, thus the name of this article. 🙂

Here is the agenda in her own words:

“It’s daring to love and be yourself.

It’s saying “yes” when others tell you “no.”

It’s living a life that ignites your soul.

It’s putting your well-being first.

In other words, the Boundless Agenda is my battle cry against self-doubt and the beaten path. I’m tired of hearing stories about people who give up on their dreams because someone told them they’re not good enough. I spent my entire childhood hearing my “friends” tell me just that.”

Much of the confidence that I have garnered over the past 9 months has come from this theme, live boundless. Whenever I feel myself scared to do something, I say to myself, LIVE BOUNDLESS. It’s amazing just how powerful those two words are. In my mind, and my beliefs, this theme means to be fearless, to live your dreams, to never give up. Jasminder, you helped me to remember that. You remind us with every word you write and every article you post. Thank you for that, thank you for being you, thank you for helping us be fearless, thank you for helping us to…

With that in mind, I’ve rounded up four inspiring videos, which, I believe help describe what it means to LIVE BOUNDLESS.

This first video (4:19) is called ALIVE, By: Ahmed Ismail. Ahmed says: “What is the point of being alive if you don’t at least try to do something remarkable?”

The second video (5:41), is called EVERYBODY DIES BUT NOT EVERYBODY LIVES, By: Prince Ea. He says this is the one thing you should know before you die…

The third video (2:58), is called FEED YOUR MIND WITH SUCCESS, By: Team Fearless. They say “The person you will be in the future is based on EVERYTHING you do today.”

The final video, (4:01) is called BELIEVE IN YOURSELF By: Fearless Soul/ FT Ashley Zahabian. “Are you going to be one of the few to stand up when things are tough…and believe in what’s right?”

Please head over to Boundless Agenda and check out Jasminder’s blog. It’s amazing.

I hope this inspired you to

believe in yourself.

Be true to yourself

your dream…

Live Boundless!

God Bless! Namaste!
