This week, we’re discussing the fourth dimension of wellness: Spiritual Wellness. As I have an assignment due on Friday, I’m cheating a bit today. I have included a article from .abundance-and-happiness.com, discussing the exact nature of spiritual wellness.
Spiritual wellness is the underlying core of all other aspects of wellness. Without a healthy spiritual nature, (or chi), other aspects of wellness are not possible.
“More fundamental than religion is our basic human spirituality. We have a basic human disposition towards love, kindness and affection, irrespective of whether we have a religious framework or not. When we nurture this most basic human resource – when we set about cultivating those basic inner values which we all appreciate in others, then we start to live spiritually.” ~ Dalai Lama
Most humans feel a void, an emptiness, that we are uncertain how to fill. So we search for money or material possessions in an effort to fill that void. Most wealthy people will tell you that being rich doesn’t fill that void. This void is simply not recognizing a connection with your spirit, as well as a connection with the rest of creation.
As the Dalai Lama says in the above quote, spirituality isn’t something for which you search, but is already part of us, it’s our very nature. As this article from abundance-and-happiness.com will tell you, spiritual wellness already exists within you, all you need to do is acknowledge it.
Wish me luck as I leave you today to prepare my thesis proposal! (YIKES!)
Until next time…namaste my friends!
