Instead of quotes this week, I’m highlighting facts about WWI, in honor of the 100th anniversary of the end of the war on November 11, 1918. I know I usually do inspiring quotes, but I feel it is important to remember history.
World War I brought the use of planes for the first time, with battles in the sky. The primary role of aircraft during WWI was not in battle, but in reconnaissance. Emerging photographic technology was combined with airplane technology to create the first spy planes. In fact, part of the reason for the large number of casualties during WWI was due to the effectiveness of these spy planes. The slow moving trench warfare together with the new spy planes was a deadly combination.
