Kindness in words creates confidence. Kindness in thinking creates profoundness. Kindness in giving creates love. ~ Lao Tzu

What do you think? What’s the first thought you have when I say the word  “KINDNESS”?

I truly believe kindness starts in the mind. It begins with thoughts of what kindness is, how it helps others, and how is beneficial to yourself. Once you think about it regularly, kind words become second nature, then you’ll give to others without a second thought.

It becomes automatic, like a reflex.

When I’m in line at the store, with a cart full of items and someone comes up behind me with only 1 or 2 things, I automatically ask if they’d like to go ahead of me. If someone drops something, I automatically stoop to pick it up. If someone is exiting a door right behind me, I’ll hold the door for them.

I don’t really think about it, I just do it. People are always so surprised that someone is being kind to them. I don’t think they’re used to that. I love seeing their smiles…it’s a great feeling.

About Tamara Hoerner (1252 Articles)
Welcome to The Purple Almond! My name is Tamara Hoerner. I am a student at Hawthorn University working toward a Master of Science in Health and Nutrition Education. For me, the name Purple Almond symbolizes “Good, nutritious, whole food bringing light and life to the body, awakening the inherent healing mechanisms within.” I'm all about getting back to the basics, good old fashioned traditional organic, whole food, the kind your great-grandmother used to eat. You'll find no processed foods here. Just good food to heal your whole body. I also believe a healthy body isn't just about food. Stress plays a large part in the physical health of our body. I, therefore, believe in using anything that relieves stress and heals the body, including: mediation, yoga, music, laughter, inspiration and helping others. You'll find all these included in my blog as well.

I'd love to know what you think!
