Laughter Therapy: Dad at the Comedy Barn

About a year ago, I posted an article about the benefits of laughing. Yes, other than being just plain fun, laughing has actual health benefits:

  1. Reduces stress
  2. Protects the heart
  3. Boosts the immune system
  4. Relieves pain
  5. Improves sleep quality and reduce insomnia
  6. Improves your social life
  7. Helps you lose weight
  8. Keeps you young
  9. Improves the creative process
  10. Improves memory

Laughing for 15 minutes every day can:

  • Increase your pain tolerance by 10%
  • Equivalent to a 2 hour nap
  • Burn between 10 and 40 calories
  • Improves memory by up to 40%
  • Same as 30 minutes of exercise 3 times a week

If you’d like to see a video on the 10 benefits of laughter, FOLLOW THIS LINK.

So to help you out, toward your 15 minute goal for today, I have wonderfully funny, downright HILARIOUS video called DAD AT THE COMEDY BARN. (9 MINUTES)

Have a look, and I DARE YOU NOT TO LAUGH!

(Bet you laugh, A LOT!)

Look for this new series, Laughter Therapy, on occasion. Anytime I find something amusing, I’ll try to share it with you through this new series.

Until next time…Namaste my friends!

About Tamara Hoerner (1083 Articles)
Welcome to The Purple Almond! My name is Tamara Hoerner. I am a student at Hawthorn University working toward a Master of Science in Health and Nutrition Education. For me, the name Purple Almond symbolizes “Good, nutritious, whole food bringing light and life to the body, awakening the inherent healing mechanisms within.” I'm all about getting back to the basics, good old fashioned traditional organic, whole food, the kind your great-grandmother used to eat. You'll find no processed foods here. Just good food to heal your whole body. I also believe a healthy body isn't just about food. Stress plays a large part in the physical health of our body. I, therefore, believe in using anything that relieves stress and heals the body, including: mediation, yoga, music, laughter, inspiration and helping others. You'll find all these included in my blog as well.
