Did you know…All about Chia Seeds

We’ve all heard of chia seeds, made famous by the Chia Pet commercials. However, this tiny little seed is a powerhouse of nutrients, considered a superfood by many people. (Including your’s truly!) So, where did they originate? Why are they so nutritious?

God bless and namaste my friends.πŸ™

About Tamara Hoerner (1161 Articles)
Welcome to The Purple Almond! My name is Tamara Hoerner. I am a student at Hawthorn University working toward a Master of Science in Health and Nutrition Education. For me, the name Purple Almond symbolizes β€œGood, nutritious, whole food bringing light and life to the body, awakening the inherent healing mechanisms within.” I'm all about getting back to the basics, good old fashioned traditional organic, whole food, the kind your great-grandmother used to eat. You'll find no processed foods here. Just good food to heal your whole body. I also believe a healthy body isn't just about food. Stress plays a large part in the physical health of our body. I, therefore, believe in using anything that relieves stress and heals the body, including: mediation, yoga, music, laughter, inspiration and helping others. You'll find all these included in my blog as well.

  1. Good info thanks

  2. Tamara what I always love about the videos you find is that they are short and sweet. You get some great “healthy” information too. I never cared for the Chia Pet because I couldn’t get the darn thing to grow right, but I do enjoy putting ground Chia seeds in my smoothies. As a vegetarian I’m always looking for healthy ways to get some protein. Skippy peanut butter may or may not be it when I have Chia seeds in the cabinet. Thanks for sharing!

Note: I will be humming the Chia Pet jingle the rest of the day.
