As Mother Teresa once said: “Never worry about numbers. Help one person at a time, and always start with the person nearest you.” and “If you can’t feed 100 people, then feed just one.”
We often think that we are just one person and can’t make a difference. Just think how powerful we can become if every person helps just one person. The world would change drastically. Just as snowflakes, working together, create a powerful event, we can create an avalanche of love, kindness and empathy.
As I was looking through youtube, in search of videos for my morning video series, I stumbled across this wonderful video, short, but quite inspiring. As is indicated in the video description, this video was developed by a class of 8th grade students at Kalispell Middle School, in Kalispell, Montana.
Here is a quote from the description:
“The vision was to create a thought provoking short film that instills a challenge to the viewer to look at their own life, their own relationships, and their own sphere of influence, and see where a little empathy could help change the world around them. In working in a middle school for the past 5 years, I’ve seen the power that a single act of empathy can have on a hurting student, and hope that this message will inspire viewers, just as my own students have inspired me in creating this. Please share in our vision for a more empathetic world.”
Absolutely wonderful. Love it!

“We think we listen, but very rarely do we listen with real understanding, true empathy. Yet listening, of this very special kind, is one of the most potent forces for change that I know.”

thank you so much for sharing this! i am a medical student the settings in my country having so many patients and very few doctors and nurses, put you in a position of thinking that work matters more than empathy, rushing things or wanting to just getting them done without caring if we make a little difference, spend one more minute to reassure someone, even if we are running late or the queue outside is super long! am struggling to train my heart to be kind no matter what is happening around, responding with empathy.

Thank you so much for sharing your thoughts. In the midst of life, it can be difficult to stop and take that extra moment to show empathy and compassion, but that’s all it takes…just minutes. I always try to put myself in the other person’s position…how would I want to be treated? It seems simple, but it’s so powerful. And, it’s the golden rule, a part of every religion on the planet. Thank you so much for sharing your thoughts and kind words! Namaste 🙏

Reblogged this on Rhapsody Bohème and commented:
A beautiful blog post from my friend at thepurplealmond.com.
It speaks to my heart and the core of m6 beliefs and it needs to be shared. Many think that they are only one, not realizing the power of one and that each of us has the ability to make a difference. That itself is powerful and it starts with a choice and a little compassion/empathy.
