As you know, I am currently working toward a Master of Science degree in Holistic Nutrition. Over the summer, I passed from the foundation level of classes to a more advanced level, and into a newly structured system. The classes are much harder, with 100’s of pages of reading in each class, large papers due every 7 to 10 days, and real life practice clients in each course. It’s very exciting, but also very stressful.
Ever since I started in this new level of classes, I’ve been struggling to keep up with my school work AND keep my blog schedule. As you may have noticed recently, my blogging schedule often takes a back seat to school. Because of this, and due to family issues, over the summer, I cut my featured blogs from 2 per day to 1 per day. I thought that would give me enough time to get everything done, but it hasn’t turned out that way. I’m getting everything done on time, but my stress level is through the roof. I often only sleep a few hours a night, and occasionally pull an all nighter.
My health is starting to suffer. I have recently been diagnosed with Adrenal Fatigue. The adrenal glands are responsible for metabolism and how the body handles stress. Often, when the body is overly stressed for a prolonged period of time, the adrenal glands become fatigued and don’t work properly. The infographic below shows some of the symptoms.
Adrenal fatigue is the main reason I am allergic to so many things, a sugar addict, a caffeine addict and having trouble losing weight. I have been unable to lose the weight I’ve gained over the past few years, despite walking daily and eating a whole food diet 90% of the time. I now know it is due to my adrenal fatigue. Because of my schooling, I know the proper diet and supplements to heal adrenal fatigue, as well as the proper exercises, now I just need to deal with the stress, which is a MAJOR contributing factor.
I’ve gone over and over this in my head for the past month or so and come to a very tough decision. I hate to do it, but, I am going to have to make an extreme change to my blogging schedule, if I’m going to lose weight, get healthy and continue getting the grades I want, as well as learn at the level I’d like. I am currently a straight-A student at Hawthorn, on the President’s list and I’d like to keep it that way. I do the required reading, but rarely have time to do the extra reading to learn even more. Also, if it’s going to be my job to someday help people get healthy, I need to first get healthy myself.
I am absolutely in love with Blogging and it breaks my heart to have to cut back this much. I feel horrible about this! My heart is so heavy and I’m sad this is necessary. One day, it’s my goal to blog all day, every day and make money doing what I love, but that day hasn’t yet come. I dream for that day…I long for that day!
But, first things first…
SCHOOL and GETTING HEALTHY.
