Motivation Monday: How winners are made…

“Winning is great, sure, but if you are really going to do something in life, the secret is learning how to lose. Nobody goes undefeated all the time. If you can pick up after a crushing defeat, and go on to win again, you are going to be a champion someday.” ~ Wilma Rudolph

Before I announce the winner of the cookbook giveaway,

I wanted to share a few thoughts and videos on winning.

Today’s theme for Motivation Monday is winning. Now, I am absolutely no expert in the field of winning. But, I do know what motivates me. I do know what got me off my backside to start this blog.

I opened this blog a year before I actually started writing any articles. I actually wrote 1 article and reblogged 1 or two, then stopped, FOR A YEAR!!! What stopped me? FEAR…Fear of failure…fear of what others will think of me…fear of hard work…fear of my life changing…I could go on.

So, for a year, I procrastinated, always coming up with excuses. I spent my “spare time” on my cell phone, playing games. Can anyone else relate to that? I was addicted to those stupid games on my phone and could spend hours playing games.

Then, one day I decided my time could be more productive. So I deleted all the games from my phone, except one puzzle game. Now, instead of playing games on my phone, when I’m not studying, reading, writing papers or taking care of my home and family, I’m working on my blog….and I’ve never been happier. I have combined 3 of my passions together, writing, nutrition and spirituality and the result is this blog (and my little spiritual blog: My Walk in the Woods.

I’m not sure if that makes me a winner or not. But, as far as my life goes, I feel like a success. I get to study what I love and do what I love and, hopefully, have a positive impact on the lives of other people. In my book, that’s winning.

Success consists of getting up just one more time than you fall.

So, here are two  videos to motivate and inspire you on this Monday morning.

The first one is called: THIS IS HOW WINNERS ARE MADE.

The second one is called: TO THE GLORY

I hope that inspired you a bit. If you have a dream, something you’ve been wanting to do, don’t wait, don’t procrastinate like I did. Trust me, the hardest part is simply taking that first step. Don’t worry about failing or falling, it’s part of the process, it’s how we learn. You just need to pick yourself up, dust yourself off and keep on going.

Don’t let your fears get the better of you. Action conquers fear. The best way to conquer your fear is to do the very thing that scares you….Why not start today?

The greatest accomplishment is not in never falling, but in rising again after you fall..png

Now…the winner is…

Attention- (1)

I am pleased to announce the winner of The Purple Almond Cookbook giveaway is….

Joann Maxwell author of the blog Fearless: Diagnosis of a Chronic Disease Turned My World Upside Down

After retiring from teaching and working at the senior level executive with a non profit, Joann began volunteering with the Billy Graham Training center, as well as helping her aging parents. Joann says on her about page:

” I love to read, play Mahjongg, play brain games on my tablet and swim (which is my real love). I love the Lord and am active in my church.  I try each day to live out 2 Corinthians 3:3–“clearly you are an epistle of Christ, ministered by us, written not with ink but by the Spirit of the living God, not on tablets of stone but on tablets of flesh, that is, of the heart.”

“When suddenly I was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis at the age of 60, signs along the way in my life became clear.  My faith, independence, and fearlessness in life were threatened.  You are invited to share my struggles and find the Hope I have.  My book, Fearless, is how I worked through various trials and tribulations to find the fearless spirit I thought I lost.  I give God all the glory for never giving up on me!”

I have contacted Joann and will be mailing her the cookbook today. Congratulations Joann and thank you for being such a dedicated follower of my blog.

Thank you also to each and every person who follows me and reads my blog. You are all so wonderful and amazing. I am truly blessed.

God bless, Namaste!
