My Journal-Struggles with food & nutrition ~ coming soon!

Just a quick administrative note today. Over the past year or two, I’ve been struggling with a few aspects of my diet (and fitness – or lack thereof!)

In an effort to hold myself accountable for the goals I’ve set for myself, I have decided to publish a journal once a week, beginning Thursday, May 4, 2017.

When I started this blog, I made an effort to shy away from getting too personal. While I have touched on a few personal aspects of my life, the bulk of the articles have been dedicated to teaching you about nutrition and meditation, while inspiring you about life.

This journal will be different. It’ll be my personal journey as I reestablish my health, wellness and weight goals. Included in this journal will be a food/fitness log and goal tracking, as well as experiments with recipes and food. You’ll see it all, what works and what doesn’t

The reason for this journal is 2 fold. First, it will help me stay on track with my healthy lifestyle. Second, I’ll be able to show tips, tricks and techniques I’ve learned over the years.

I am exited, (and frankly terrified), to be sharing this new part of my nutrition journey with you. I hope you’ll come along for my very bumpy ride!

About Tamara Hoerner (1303 Articles)
Welcome to The Purple Almond! My name is Tamara Hoerner. I am a student at Hawthorn University working toward a Master of Science in Health and Nutrition Education. For me, the name Purple Almond symbolizes “Good, nutritious, whole food bringing light and life to the body, awakening the inherent healing mechanisms within.” I'm all about getting back to the basics, good old fashioned traditional organic, whole food, the kind your great-grandmother used to eat. You'll find no processed foods here. Just good food to heal your whole body. I also believe a healthy body isn't just about food. Stress plays a large part in the physical health of our body. I, therefore, believe in using anything that relieves stress and heals the body, including: mediation, yoga, music, laughter, inspiration and helping others. You'll find all these included in my blog as well.

  5. I really like what you’re doing here. I think that opening up to your followers and making a log of your progress is an amazing way to share your journey.

I’m kind of doing the same thing with my blog, but I just started this week! It will take a long time to get to where you are, I think. Anyway, I’m gonna follow you! I hope you can do the same so we can keep each other motivated!

    • Thank you for your encouragement and support. It’s difficult admitting these things to your followers, but, it has been a huge help for me. I hope others are learning from me. That’s my goal. I did follow you. I can’t wait to read more about what you are doing. Thanks again! 🙂

  8. Great post! Glad to see you’ll be including us on your journey! I love where you’re going with this…
It’s so important to remove foods that don’t serve you. All food is either alkaline or acidic forming. If your body is more acidic, you are more prone to disease, illness, bacteria and viruses. One of the things that always scares me is….if you think about that one food you crave, that one food is the one causing the most damage to your body! Scary thought!
