The year is 1982, in Melbourne, Australia, and Dušanka and Borislav Vujičić (pronounced VOO-yee-cheech), devout Serbian Orthodox emigrants from Yugoslavia, received an unexpected bombshell. Without any warning from the doctors, their son Nicholas, healthy in all other ways, was born without any arms or legs.
As if being a child wasn’t difficult enough, Nick had to deal with the stigma caused by his disability. Nick was teased and bullied as a child, and he also dealt with depression, as well as loneliness, once attempting suicide at the age of 10.
But, Nick’s devout faith in God, and with the support of his parents, as well as, the rest of his family, inspired him to continue on with his journey.
Nick gave his first speech at the age of 19. Since then, he has gone on to travel the world, filling stadiums and inspiring MILLIONS of people with his story.
“If God can use a man without arms and legs to be His hands and feet, then He will certainly use any willing heart!” ~ Nick Vujičić
Nick has written several books which can be found on Amazon. (The list below is from Wikipedia)
In 2005, Nick started a non-profit organization called Life Without Limbs. Their mission is stated below:
In 2007, he started his own company: Attitude is Altitude. Through the use of speeches, motivational products and other resources, Nick’s company is dedicated to empowering people to transform their lives.
Each day, as I prepare these daily inspiration posts, I have watched LOTS of videos, and read about many inspiring people. There is one underlying theme that most of these inspirational videos and people have in common-GRATITUDE. All inspiration, all routes to happiness and inner peace seem to stem from simply being grateful for what you have, thankful for simply being alive. I must say, Nick Vujičić is the epitome of gratitude. After his struggles early in life, Nick found his purpose and is simply happy and grateful to be alive.
