10 Healthy Protein Bar Recipes

Hello everyone! It's so good to be back after my week long hiatus. I spent the week studying for my big exam. (I got an "A"!) I missed all of you and am ready to dive back into the world of blogging. After a very fast paced, busy and stressful month, I was reminded of the importance of healthy eating. That said, I understand that time is of the essence. The temptation of fast food, or convenience food is hard to resist.

Many people will reach for prepackaged protein bars, thinking they are a quick and healthy alternative to a normal breakfast. This couldn’t be further from the truth. Most prepackaged protein bars are little more than candy bars in disguise. Some bars contain more than 30 grams of sugar, contain highly processed ingredients and protein isolates.

I decided to find some healthy, homemade protein bar recipes. These are very quick and easy to make and can be part of your “food prep” day. Then, during the week, when you are short on time, you have a healthy snack, or post-workout pick me up.

For the most part, these recipes use whole food ingredients. Some recipes call for brown rice syrup. In this case, replace the brown rice syrup with organic maple syrup or raw honey. Most of the recipes call for protein powder. It is VITAL that you use a high quality protein powder. I use NAKED WHEY, which is only whey protein, from grass fed cows. Now, onto the recipes!
