During the celebrations for my Grandmother’s 100th birthday, I published a blog which discussed my favorite meal: fried potatoes, german sausage and pickles. I had a follower ask if I had the recipe for german sausage. While the small town grocery store in Herreid, South Dakota makes the absolute best german sausage available, the recipe is a closely guarded secret. However, they may be inclined to ship sausage to those willing to pay.

I also found a recipe to make german sausage. I have not tried it myself, so I don’t know how the taste and quality compare to Herreid sausage, but if you’d like to try making your own sausage, this is a great recipe with which to begin. (I do know Herreid smokes their sausage-not called for in this recipe)
