21 Health Foods You Should Never Eat (No Matter What!)

healthfoodsmeme

In my “HOW TO EAT HEALTHY” blog series, I’ll be going into more detail regarding specific things you should never eat, even when you eat “85/15” style. For now, I found a great article from Dr. Axe which contains a list of 21 (so-called) “health foods” you should NEVER eat. Below is a wonderful infographic listing each of the 21 foods, along with a few reasons not to eat it.

Remember, stick to foods that are:

whole

unprocessed

organic

wild

free-range

Onto the infographic.

You may be surprised by some of the foods on this list.

Let me know your thoughts.

  1. I very much enjoyed reading this article! I would never have thought about the salmon, shrimp, and low fat milk. Thanks for the heads up.

  2. Agree with the list EXCEPT soy protein. There is much controversy over soy protein and potential endocrine disruptors. As long as the soy is ORGANIC, I believe it is a good source (in smaller quantities) of protein. Organic soy is naturally grown and fits my personal definition of REAL FOOD. Women will have to decide for themselves whether they believe the literature is more or less convincing regarding soy and its health risk if previously diagnosed with breast cancer.

    • The bad part of even organic soy is that it’s highly allergenic. I can’t even eat fermented soy which is quite healthy. Thanks for your comments. 🙂

      • The big question is “why?” The average person maintaining a healthy lifestyle including quality sources of nutrition does not suffer from allergies. Unfortunately, the above description does not define the average person. Diets full of inflammatory foods including GMO’s, preservative based foods, foods full of dye, chemical sugar alternatives as well as environmental toxins are more likely to cause a hypersensitivity response (allergic response) than a quality REAL FOOD product. There are certainly exceptions to the rule, however, I have rarely seen a patient using a healthy balanced approach to life suffering from hypersensitivity issues. Unfortunately, you sound like you might be one of those exceptions.
