Each Monday, I will be featuring a new meditation video. Today, I decided to combine the benefits of yoga and meditation.
I found an article by the American Osteopathic Association, that discusses the benefits of yoga. According to the article, there are many benefits to yoga, including:
Increased muscle strength and tone
Improved respiration, energy and vitality
Maintaining a balanced metabolism
Cardio and circulatory health
Improved athletic performance
Protection from injury
As healthy as yoga is on a physical level, it’s the mental benefits that are most outstanding. Here is a quote from the article regarding mental benefits of yoga:
“Regular yoga practice creates mental clarity and calmness; increases body awareness; relieves chronic stress patterns; relaxes the mind; centers attention; and sharpens concentration,” says Dr. Nevins. Body- and self-awareness are particularly beneficial, she adds, “because they can help with early detection of physical problems and allow for early preventive action.”
